BRBNA Conservation Partnership Meeting | The Next Meeting of the BRBNA Conservation Partnership will be held on Friday, September 12, 10:00 am at the Winters Community Center, 201 Railroad Avenue. The Partnership will have guests presenting information on AB 2923, which now awaits the Governor's signature (the bill directs the state to assess the suitability of numerous state roadless lands in Northern California for wilderness designation). Julia McIver, from the Yolo County Parks Department will tell us about their proposed Rumsey Canyon acquisition, and Tuleyome will provide an update on the NCA proposal. As always, we hope you will join us and share your current activities in the region. Refreshments are served before the meeting so come early to mingle! Site Preparation Workshop for Efficient Irrigation | Third session in the City of Napa's 2008 Water-Wise Landscaping Workshop Series: September 17 - Site Preparation Learn how to prepare your site for efficient irrigation. After a look at the eight basic principles of water-wise landscaping, local Master Gardeners will thoroughly review local soils and the critical importance of aeration, amendments, and mulch. Basic landscape design will also be emphasized, including appropriate plant grouping. The workshop features expert presenters, free water-saving devices, literature, and door prizes. Creek to Bay Cleanup Day | Creek to Bay Cleanup Day Saturday, September 20 9 am - Noon Come out and participate in the statewide effort to keep our local waterways clean, healthy, and beautiful. From 9am until noon, volunteers will collect trash and recyclables at various locations along the Napa River and other waterways in Napa County. Plant Selection Workshop | Final session in the City of Napa's 2008 Water-Wise Landscaping Workshop Series: September 24 - Plant Selection Just in time for the fall planting season, local design pros will show that drought-tolerant landscapes are anything but boring. Colorful and beautiful tree, shrub, perennial, grass, vine, and groundcover species will be discussed. Dozens of plants will be on hand for viewing, including California natives. Attractive local water-efficient landscapes will be the focus, including a new City Water-Wise Demonstration Garden.
