2011 Integrated Regional Water Management Conference
This 1-1/2 day conference will help water agencies, attorneys, elected officials, land use planners, environmentalists, tribes, and others identify key strategies to implement a successful Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) plan.
IRWM is a collaborative effort to manage all aspects of water resources in a region. Water resources usually are not confined to the boundaries of a single water management agency. A consensus-based, cross-jursidictional, regional approach can help purveyors, planners, landowners, stakeholders, and others develop plans to better manage their water resources - including water supply, water quality, water use efficiency, and environmental protection.
This conference will address key issues:
- Where is IRWM headed?
- IRWM beyond state funding: challenges and opportunities
- Success stories: making projects happen
- Decision making strategies and tools
- Integrating water management into land use plans
- Water supply reliability strategies for a changing climate
- Broadening public participation
- Integrated flood management: environmental and water supply benefits
The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. (registration is at 8 a.m.) Tuesday, May 24, and adjourn to a hosted reception at 4:45 p.m. Presentations will continue Wednesday, May 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Registration is $195 and includes conference materials, coffee breaks, as well as lunch and a hosted reception on May 24.
